Tourism & Handicap for the hearing, mental, motor and sight impaired
The Locmariaquer megaliths site was awarded the Tourism & Handicap motor and visual label in May 2009, following specific improvements to the reception building and the site's footpath adapted for visitors with reduced mobility. Visitor information tools for the visually impaired have also been designed (tour booklet in Braille/big print and drawings in relief and facsimiles of the engravings of the Great Broken Menhir and the Table des Marchands dolmen).
In 2010, an introductory film in LSF with French subtitles and a video room equipped with a magnetic loop were adapted for hearing-impaired visitors. Sensory kits have been designed for tours adapted for groups with intellectual, motor and visual impairments.
More than a year's work with the Adapei du Morbihan and "Nous aussi" associations in Auray and Vannes has gone into producing a visit booklet in "easy to read and understand" (FALC) for people with intellectual disabilities. This work was rewarded with the Tourism & Mental Handicap Label in April 2011.
These initiatives have continued to benefit visitors with hearing impairments. In addition to the introductory film, a tour route in LSF, LSF and French has been designed on a touch-sensitive tablet. To make it easier for visitors with hearing impairments to find their way around, a magnetic loop has been installed at the reception/ticket counter. These special facilities and the design of specially adapted mediation tools led to the award of the Tourisme & handicap auditif, mental, moteur et visuel (Tourism & disability for the hearing, mentally, motor and visually impaired) label in December 2014.
In 2017, a multimedia terminal was designed with sound animations adapted for visitors with intellectual disabilities, animations in LSF with French subtitles for visitors with hearing impairments and sound content adapted for visitors with visual impairments.
Once again, the site was awarded the Tourisme & Handicap auditif, mental, motor and visual label in July 2020.
